SRINAGAR: A motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle collided with a Maruti Ignis in the Brath Kalan area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Tajamul Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Sheikhpora Bomai.
An official said Sheikh sustained critical injuries in the accident and was taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore by the car driver. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
His body has been kept at SDH Sopore for medico-legal formalities, the official said.
The car driver subsequently surrendered to the police and was taken into custody for questioning, while police have initiated proceedings to establish the circumstances leading to the crash.
