SRINAGAR: Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah on Sunday said that he will stage a peaceful and dignified protest outside the Chief Minister’s official residence on Gupkar Road to demand rationality in the government’s reservation policy.
In a post on X, Ruhullah said the protest comes as a commitment he made to stand with citizens advocating for a fair reservation policy. “Today marks the date I had committed to stand with those whose voices demand rationality in the reservation policy.”

Referring to his earlier response to a citizen’s post on X (formerly Twitter), Ruhullah said he had urged patience until 22nd December to allow the government time to address the issue. “I also said that if the matter was not resolved by then, I would join you in protest outside the HCM’s residence or office. 22nd December ends tonight.”
“To those who believe that the issue remains unaddressed in a satisfactory manner: I stand by my commitment. Tomorrow, I will join the people in a peaceful and dignified attempt to demand answers on their issues from the government,” he said.
Ruhullah urged all participants to maintain civility and focus on genuine demands. He also called on political figures to show sincerity by joining the protest rather than engaging in rhetoric.
“I request all those voluntarily coming to maintain civility and focus on raising genuine demands for a rational reservation policy. To those who seek to exploit this issue for political gains: I welcome you to step out tomorrow and step away from rhetoric. Show your sincerity where it matters—the streets.”
The protest is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Monday outside the Chief Minister’s residential office on Gupkar Road, the post reads.
