According to a statement issued by AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, the resolution will be presented during the session beginning on July 21, 2025. “Despite being unjustly jailed, Er Rashid has not allowed the chains of incarceration to silence the voice of his people. He will continue to use every democratic platform available to uphold the aspirations and sentiments of Jammu and Kashmir,” Inam said.

The demand, Inam stressed, is not an appeal for generosity but a call for constitutional justice. “Statehood is a constitutional right that was unilaterally stripped away in 2019. Parliament must correct this historic wrong. The resolution is rooted in the people’s longing for dignity, democratic rights and self-respect.”

The AIP reaffirmed that Er Rashid’s role in Parliament remains significant despite his imprisonment. “His decision to move this resolution, even from behind bars, shows that neither walls nor injustice can suppress the democratic spirit that he embodies,” the party statement added.

AIP has also appealed to all political parties, particularly those claiming to represent Jammu and Kashmir, to support the resolution and uphold the constitutional guarantees promised to the region.

The Parliament session is set to commence on July 21.
