Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of ‘Bharat Sanrachna J&K-2025’ at SKICC, Khatana,  praised the Lieutenant Governor for his efforts, stating that the region has witnessed visible progress.

“In the last 30 years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir faced distress, but the situation has changed. Students are now regularly attending schools,” Khatana said. He added that under LG Sinha’s leadership, international events like the G20 were held in the Valley, and recent elections were conducted in a free and fair manner.

“We are witnessing progress. The elected government should also work actively on the ground,” he said in the presence of the Lieutenant Governor.

Khatana appealed to the LG to reopen trekking routes across the region for public access. “As law and order falls under your jurisdiction, we request you to reopen the trekking routes. Many people have established homestays and related businesses. Their livelihood depends on it,” he said.

Regarding the event, he said that a large number of students participated on the first day. “The event was earlier scheduled but was postponed due to the Pahalgam terror attack,” he added.

Khatana also said that Kashmir is an integral part of India and urged the youth of J&K to move forward. “The youth should not lag behind. This event aims to create awareness and encourage them to become employment generators,” he said.

On the National Conference’s call to observe July 13 as Martyrs’ Day, Khatana said that there are many schools named after national martyrs and the nation collectively honours their contributions. (KNO)
