The milestone was confirmed this week by the creator, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, following a rapid surge in subscribers that pushed his channel beyond the half-billion mark during a livestream on June 12.

Donaldson, 27, began uploading videos in 2012 at the age of 13, initially producing gaming content, reactions and commentary. Over the years, his channel has transformed into one of YouTube’s most influential platforms, known for large-scale challenges, high-value giveaways and high-production entertainment formats.

His rise to prominence accelerated after he overtook PewDiePie and T-Series to become YouTube’s most-subscribed creator less than two years ago. Since then, his audience has expanded further, supported by international reach and platform translation tools that have enabled global viewership across multiple languages.

What began as content made from his bedroom has developed into a large-scale media enterprise employing hundreds of staff and operating with international production teams. Several of his recent videos are reported to have cost millions of dollars to produce.

The subscriber count includes audiences across multiple channels under the MrBeast brand. Beyond YouTube, Donaldson has also built commercial ventures such as Feastables and is widely recognised for philanthropic projects including food distribution initiatives and infrastructure-related support programmes.

While his career has attracted both widespread acclaim and criticism, the latest milestone underscores the growing influence of online creators, whose audiences now rival traditional broadcast and streaming platforms.
