SRINAGAR: Heavy rainfall triggered mudslides and falling stones at multiple locations along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in Udhampur district on Tuesday, leading to the diversion of traffic through the downtube as a precautionary measure.
According to reports, the affected locations include Sharda Mata Mandir, Tharad, Bali Nallah and Kheri on the uptube stretch of the highway, where continuous rainfall caused mudslides and stonefall, posing a threat to commuters.
Authorities have advised motorists to travel with caution, strictly follow traffic advisories and avoid stopping near vulnerable stretches until the highway is fully cleared and conditions improve.
Officials said the situation is being monitored, and further updates are awaited.
