Blaming Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and late Bakhshi Ghulam Muhammad for power woes in Kashmir, National Conference Saturday said that these two leaders sold water resources to New Delhi as a result people suffer heavily during winters in Kashmir.

National Conference legislator Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal said that it will take at least 7 more years to make Kashmir self-sufficient in power sector. “Our government is not responsible for power mess in Kashmir. We did not sell water resources to New Delhi but it was Late Bakhshi Ghulam Muhammad in 1960 and later on Mufti Muhammad Sayeed who looted water resources of Kashmir,” Kamal told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding pesky power cuts is not new in Kashmir.

He said that NC tightened noose around Security Forces who arrived here on the behest of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and they are now paying electricity fee in lump sums. “People should also use electricity judiciously. People forget that they misuse it and always blame the government,” he said.

Responding to a query, Kamal said that NC Headquarters Nawai Subha never became the defaulter of Power Development Department but NC patron Dr Farooq Abdullah had objected over the inflated power bills that PDD had dispatched to him.

Holding Kashmir weather as the basic reason for power woes Kamal said that it is not fair to blame Government for everything.
