Appealing people of Budgam to defeat the designs of divisive elements Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Wednesday said the violent incidents in the district might be isolated in nature but they are causing tremendous pain and anxiety among the entire Kashmir society.

According to GNS, Mufti was speaking at a special meeting convened by him to discuss the unfortunate events resulting from a small altercation between two individuals in the central Kashmir district.

Mufti in a statement said the incidents are a clear violation of the principles of Islam and Kashmir’s centuries old tradition of tolerance and brotherhood among various communities and sects.

He said the holy month of Ramadhan should inspire us to sink any difference if there are of any nature. “It is sad that instead of taking full benefit of the spiritual environment of this month a handful of people are trying to divide the community for their petty interests,” Mufti sdaid, adding that this is the month of helping the poor and the needy. He said it is highly deplorable that some people have been rendered destitute during this month as a result of  the destruction of their homes and property.

Appreciating the call of religious leaders and civil society stakeholders for restoration of peace Mufti said it is a matter of satisfaction that some prominent persons from the district have swung into action and are trying to neutralize the impact of disruptive forces. He, however, regretted that there were reports of inadequacy in the response from the administration which at many places has added to the anger of the people and distress of the victims.

“The sole objective of the administration at this crucial juncture should be to restore peace and take every concerned person on board and secure their assistance,” Mufti added.

Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Spokesperson and MLC Naeem Akhtar Wednesday visited SKIMS  Soura to look up an injured youth Mohammad Yousuf S/o Haji Gh Nabi of Kurhama Ganderbal admitted with a bullet wound. Yousuf was injured in firing by forces in the aftermath of Gool killings during a peaceful protest at Ganderbal.

Akhtar wished him speedy recovery and conveyed good wishes from PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed  and president Mehbooba Mufti. He also spoke to the doctors and requested them to extend proper medical care to the young Mohammad Yousuf.
