In view of periodical silt flushing from the reservoir of Salal Power Station, NHPC Wednesday advised the public of district Reasi in general and villages in up stream including Dharan, Thanpal, Arnas, Sal, Lanjan, Narloo, Gari, Salmot and villages in Down stream Gujjar Kothi, Saidh Baba, Kachhi Khera, Talwara, Nambla, Vijaypur, Bara Dari, Patta, Kanasi Patta, Jedhi, Panasa, Bhabber, Chumdian, Dera Baba Banda Bhadur, Seri etc have been to restrict their movement near banks of river Chenab.
According to the notice issued, the gates of the Dam shall be opened from July 25, 2013 4 a.m. (Morning) to July 25, 2013 , 7 pm (evening) which will cause an increase in flow of water and level of river Chenab.
“As such, movement of men, vehicles and pets along the river bank during this period is not advisable and general public of the area is advised to take proper care and movement near banks of river Chenab during this period to avoid any mishap. Anybody violating this request shall be doing so at their own risk and responsibility and the management of Salal Power Station shall not be responsible for consequence thereof,” read the statement.
