KL Report

Islamabad

The authorities are denying passport to a person for renting a room to Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) for its office in this south Kashmir district. Nisar Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Ahmad Lone of Naibasti, Islamabad rented a room to JKLF for office purposes four years back. “In 2009 JKLF men approached me and sought a room for running their office here in the district. I am not remotely linked to the party, but simply rented a room to its people for livelihood. But the decision landed me in deep trouble,” said Nisar.

He said that whenever he visits the passport office he is being asked get the verification from CID and other agencies. “On approaching CID the officials there ask me in clear cut terms that I cannot get the passport until and unless I make the JKLF vacate from the room of my building,” Nisar told CNS.

He said that he has been insisting the JKLF men to vacate but they refuse. “I many a time met JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik requesting him to vacate the room but he refused to vacate. I fail to understand what should I do now. Neither Authorities get ready to issue passport in my favour nor JKLF leaves the room,” said Lone.

He added that if authorities can issue passport to separatist leaders, how can they deny the same to a poor man like him having rented his room to party for livelihood. “Now I am left with no option but to move to the court for justice,” Nisar said.
