Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Friday greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, wishing them well-being and prosperity.

In his message of felicitations on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, Mufti Sayeed reminded the people about the essence of the festival, especially remembering the poor and needy and sharing happiness with them.

Sayeed also joined congregation of thousands of people at Asar-e-Sharief, Hazratbal, to offer Friday nimaz on the auspicious occasion of Jumat-ul-Vida, here today. Vice Chairman, J&K Wakaf Board, Peer Mohammad Hussain, was also present on the occasion, an official spokesperson said.

The Chief Minister urged the people to celebrate the occasion with those who were ravaged in the floods of 2014. “Eid embeds the message of taking care of the needy and making them part of the happiness by extending financial support to them,” he said.

Mufti Sayeed said the spirit behind observance of Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month, is to express our gratitude to the Almighty Allah for giving us courage to observe fasts in Ramadhan and rededicate ourselves to truthfulness, sincerity, self-control, patience and piety, thus showing complete obedience to Allah.

He expressed hope that this holy occasion will strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and bring peace, prosperity and well-being to the State and the people all over the world.

Meanwhile the spokesperson said that deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh felicitated people on Eid-ul-Fitr.

In his felicitation message, Deputy Chief Minister hoped that this auspicious occasion would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood and usher the State into a period of sustained peace, progress and prosperity. He prayed for the betterment and welfare of the people of the State.

Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali and Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta have felicitated the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In their separate felicitation messages, they hoped that Eid would be a harbinger of communal harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the state. They also prayed for the happiness and well being of the people of the state.

Deputy Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council Mr. Jahangir Mir and Deputy Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Nazir Ahmed Gurezi have also extended their greetings to the people of State on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The Council of Ministers have also greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

They expressed the hope that the Eid would open a new chapter of progress and all round development in the State, besides be a harbinger of communal harmony, peace and tranquility in the state.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation & Flood Control, Animal Husbandry and Forest, Abdul Majid Padder, Minister of State for Public Works (R&B) and Revenue, Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Power Development and Housing & Urban Development, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Minister of  State for Information, Education and Culture, Priya Sethi, Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Kumar Gupta and Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Asiya Naqash have also greeted the people on this auspicious occasion of  Eid-ul-Fitr.
