National Conference Tuesday lashed out at Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for brazenly trying to sideline the institution of the Legislative Assembly and sidelining the constitutional role of the elected representatives of the people.

Mufti in Pahalgam

Pertinently the Chief Minister, along with a few Cabinet Ministers and Senior Government officials conducted an official tour of Pahalgam Constituency on Tuesday wherein local NC MLA, Altaf Kaloo, was not invited, a party statement claimed.

“The NC MLA from Pahalgam will move a privilege motion against the Chief Minister, the Cabinet Ministers as well as Senior Govt Officials who conducted the official tour without inviting the local elected MLA from Pahalgam. This behaviour is extremely petty and doesn’t behove an elected Chief Minister. He should be reminded that he is the CM of the State now and not that of his party,” NC Spokesperson said.

“The NC MLA from Pahalgam Altaf Kaloo will file the privilege motion against Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his Cabinet Colleagues as well the Officers of the Administration who were a part of the Official tour tomorrow. This is unacceptable and we won’t allow PDP to demean and disrespect the verdict and representative rights of the people. How can a Chief Minister become so partisan and petty that he tours a Constituency with his defeated candidate while choosing not to invite the elected representative of the people of that particular Constituency? This is unconstitutional and highly condemnable,” the NC Spokesperson added.
