Srinagar: The District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri Saturday visited the Heerpora area of Shopian and took stock of ongoing work for re-opening of snowbound Mughal road.
He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Nisar Ahmad Shad,Executive Engineer Mughal Road Division Shopian and Executive Engineer Mechanical Division Shopian. The DDC was apprised that required men and machinery has been put in place for snow clearance on historic Mughal Road.
He directed the concerned officers to expedite the process of snow clearance so that the road can be thrown open for traffic at an earliest.
While talking to media persons, the DDC said the Mughal Road is alternate route to the valley. He expressed hope that it would be made functional within next 15 days. He also mentioned that tunnel on Mughal Road from Chatta Pani to Zazinar stands approved by the central government and when constructed, it will reduce the distance by 28 KMs and render it as an all weather road.
