Deputy Commissioner Shopian G M Dar today chaired a meeting of officers to review the preparedness for winter and snow clearance arrangements in the district.
Keeping in view the prevailing weather condition he directed the mechanical wing and executive engineer R&B to maintain sufficient number of snow cutting/clearance machines and establish a control room at district headquarters so that all important road can be cleared as soon as possible in case snow fall.
DC also directed Executive Engineer Mughal Road Division and ARTO Shopian, to regulate the flow of traffic on Mughal Road and ordered that vehicles should be allowed to ply between 10:30 am and 4:30 pm.
Executive Engineer PDD was told to maintain sufficient buffer stock of transformers to meet any contingency.
DC was informed by the officials of Food and Civil supplies department that they have received 17300 quintal of ration for the winter, out of which 1500 quintal has been dumped at the godowns already.
