The three militants killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Mujgund area on the outskirts of Srinagar district have been identified.

A police spokesperson in a statement said the militants killed in Mujgund gunfight have been identified as Mudasir Rashid Parray, Saqib Bilal Sheikh both residents of Hajin town of Bandipora and from the material evidence collected, one militant is learnt to be a Pakistani identified as Ali.

“The trio were affiliated with proscribed militant outfit LeT,” he said.

“The killed militants were wanted by the law for their complicity in crimes. Ali according to police records was involved in several crimes and several cases were registered against him including attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities. He was involved in recruitments in Hajin and Sumbal areas of Bandipora,” said police spokesman.

“In the initial exchange of fire, one army jawan was injured who is admitted in the hospital,” he said.

“Three civilians also sustained injuries as the area was in open and the injured were shifted to hospital for medical treatment. They are stated to be stable,” he added.

“Huge quantity of arms and ammunition including rifles were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and probe their complicity in other terror cases,” the spokesman said.

“Citizens are once again requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials,” said police spokesman in a statement.
