SRINAGAR: Multiple explosions were heard in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Tuesday during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the city, according to multiple international media reports.

A Reuters witness reported hearing several explosions, while television footage showed plumes of smoke rising over parts of the capital. The cause of the blasts was not immediately known.
According to Al Jazeera, two explosions occurred near the Syrian Ministry of Tourism headquarters. Some reports also said the blasts were heard close to the area where Macron was staying during his visit.
Syrian authorities had not officially confirmed the cause of the explosions or reported any casualties at the time of reporting.
