Multiple Vehicles Seized as Jammu Kashmir Police Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Mining

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized five vehicles, including four tippers and one JCB, in separate operations against illegal mining in Ganderbal and Awantipora.

In Ganderbal district, three tippers and one JCB were found engaged in the unauthorised extraction and transportation of minor minerals. The vehicles were operating without valid permission and in violation of prescribed norms. They were seized on the spot, and the matter was referred to the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed fines under the relevant provisions of law.

In Awantipora Police district, two tippers involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals were seized from the Bohu area. The operation was carried out by a police team led by Station House Officer, Police Station Awantipora, Inspector Ajaz Ahmad.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 69/2026 at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigation is underway to identify those involved in the незакон activities.

Police said the action is part of a sustained drive to curb illegal mining, which poses environmental risks and causes loss to public revenue. Authorities reiterated that strict action will continue against violators.

The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report illegal mining activities to help protect natural resources.
