Ahead of the civic polls in Jammu and Kashmir, authorities on Sunday put Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest.

“Under #HouseArrest!Peculiar”Democratic”process of elections“gearing up “as huge deployment of forces,PSAs, incarcerations, house arrests, raids Curbs, internet bans gather momentum! Not to  mention the unknown contestants and amused public ! What mockery of democracy is at display!,” Mirwaiz wrote on his Twitter handle.

The polls in Jammu and Kashmir are going to be held on October 8, 10, 13 and the last one is on October 16. Pertinently, Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik has called for a boycott of the polls.
