Police have detained at least eight persons including a village headman in connection with a murder of a youth in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Pertinently, in the second week of December this month Shopian police had recovered a bullet-riddled body of 23-year-old shopkeeper Rasik Ahmad Khan of Wasawhalan hamlet in Tarkawangam village.

SP Shopian Altaf Ahmed Khan told CNS an investigating team had been constituted to crack this blind murder case. “During the investigation the names of some 8 people including a Sarpanch surfaced and these all have been detained for questioning,” Khan said adding that police have got some important leads and more arrests are expected in coming days.
