KL Report

SRINAGAR

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and MLA Sangrama Syed Basharat Bukhari on Sunday said that Mushtaq Ganaie report has ignored his constituency and the report has been prepared without taking the ground realities into consideration.

Bukhari expressed his viewpoint before the cabinet subcommittee on creation of new administrative units across the state that was on its visit to Baramulla on Sunday. Talking to KNS, the PDP senior leader said that he put forth his demands before the committee led deputy chief minister Tara Chand.

Bukhari said that he proposed that Kandi Sangrama being an economically backward area, the government should accord sanction to a Community Development Block for Kandi Sangrama and Nayabat be announced for this area at a suitable place. He said that both these government offices will give a flip to the public movement thus giving boost to the areas development.

The MLA Sangrama said such government offices besides incrementing the development of the area; give a feel of participatory governance at the grassroot level. Similarly, Bukhari said Community Development Block Sopore comprises of 90 per cent of Khoiee area of his constituency. “This speaks volumes about non application of mind. The department being rural in its functioning but it’s headquarter has been placed at a far off place on Kupwara highway!”

He said that he proposed before the committee that 3 panchayat halqas which fall in Rafiabad be returned to their parent constituency. Similarly, 2 halqa panchyats of Sopore constituency be returned to Zaingeer. Bukhari said that community development block Sopore be placed at Khoiee area of Sangrama Constituency. “This I substantiated with a fact that in view of frequent law and order problems in Sopore, Khoiee areas of my constituency have been neglected for want of administrative attention. So I proposed that the Sangrama Nayabat be upgraded to tehsil level,” he added.
