Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of slain militant Mussavir Ahmed Wani of Delipora village, who was killed during an encounter between the government forces and militants in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

Reports said that the funeral prayers were attended by hundreds of people held at Industrial Estate, Delipora in Pulwama.

Local sources said that People from adjoining villages and other far-flung areas of the district marched to the village to offer the prayers.

Wani was killed on Friday evening during an encounter in Kangan area of the district. One AK 47 and one SLR gun and other incriminating materials were also recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile, authorities have imposed strict restrictions in the district.
