SRINAGAR: Peoples Conference Tuesday disassociated itself from former deputy chief minister Muzafar Hussain Baig stating that he isn’t a member of the party.
The statement comes in the backdrop of Baig declaring in the recent all-party meet that he isn’t representing any party.
Baig had also told the government of India at the meeting that if anyone including them talks on Article 370 they would be held in contempt of court. However, Baig and PC Chairman Sajad Lone had come out of the meeting in the same car.
Peoples Conference General Secretary Imran Ansari said that Baig never joined the party while they had just supported Baig’s wife, Safina Baig to become the District Development Council Chairperson in Baramulla.
However, Baig had formally joined the party when Sajad Lone had called upon him. The party’s official Twitter handle had congratulated Baig on returning back the party from where he had started his political career.
It is with great pleasure we announce that one of the towering leaders of the state Mr. Muzaffar Hussein Baig is now a part of the party from where he started his political journey. It is a nostalgic and a proud moment for all of us. pic.twitter.com/QuarIjWOIo
