Motor Vehicle Department of Jammu and Kashmir, Friday launched a web-based app ‘Vahan 4.0’ on pilot basis at ARTO’s office in Pulwama, reports said.

Commissioner Secretary, Transport, Kifayat Hussian Rizvi along with Transport Commissioner, Parvez Iqbal inaugurated the app.

Once information on the said parameters is fed into the database, remaining information pertaining to a particular vehicle such as unladen weight, seating capacity, length of the vehicle, width, height, wheel base will automatically be generated from central server, as data pertaining to all newly manufactured vehicles in the country has already been made available there, reports said.

One of the main features of the app is that it checks double registration of vehicles that may be registered in any other part of the state or the country, reports said. “This would prevent evasion of taxes at the place where the vehicle has been originally registered.”
