State Education Minister Naeem Akhtar Monday said the economic package of Rs 80,000 crores announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday would go a long way in addressing the problems of development in the state.

Akhtar was speaking to media on occasion of opening up the ‘Durbar’ in Jammu as the CM skipped the tradition of holding a press conference.

He also took a dig at former CM Omar Abdullah for his recent comment that Modi’s package was devoid of any political message.

“When they are in power they want India to bomb Pakistan and when they lose power they speak a different language,” Akhtar said.

He said the priority of the ruling coalition in the state is to “clear the mess created by the previous government”.
