Abdul Qayoom Najar, the slain militant commander, who was killed in an encounter near Zorawar Post of Lachiproa Uri on Tuesday was laid to rest at his ancestral village in Batpora area of Sopore late last night amid pro-freedom slogans.

Reports said that two rounds of funeral prayers were offered for the slain commander.

Meanwhile, Government on Wednesday imposed restrictions under section 144 in two police station areas of Sopore town in Baramulla district.

Locals said that government forces have been deployed in strength to prevent protests in view of the killing of former HM commander Ab Qayoom Najar.

They said that Main Chowk, tehsil road, court road and Chanakhan areas were sealed by the forces.

Qayoom was a resident of Mumkak area of Sopore in northern part of Kashmir.
