Former president JKPCC and ex Union Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz Sunday while appreciating the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s “timely intervention” through which two junior police officers were arrested for the killing of an innocent youth at Narbal, Kashmir.

“I express my deepest anguish at this very unfortunate incident. In this connection I raised some questions with the Director General of J&K Police, K Rajinderan, today which must fetch right answers, in due course of time. I told Rajinderan that while the magisterial probes have been ordered by the state government for the recent killings at Tral and Narbal, he (DGP) should stand solidly behind the magistrates enquiring the killings and provide necessary logistic support and highlight facts before them, within the knowledge of the people. I urged him to raise certain questions in his mind as to why the fire is opened by the forces with the aim to kill and why other methods are not used to achieve the objective of maintaining law and order,” he said in a statement to KNS.

“I further impressed upon him the need to institute intensive training for the J&K Police Force and ensure protection of human rights, as it is first responsibility. In this very connection, I urged him to represent his force in the J&K State’s Unified command, as its important member, and raise a broader question as to why it is easy for the forces including J&K Police, to open fire with the aim to kill,” he added.
