Narcotics Module Busted in Srinagar, Three Held, Large Seizure Made

   

SRINAGAR: Police in Srinagar have dismantled an alleged narcotics module operating across Nowhatta and Rainawari with the seizure of more than five kilograms of charas-like substance and the arrest of three persons linked to FIR No. 57/2025.

Officials said a naka was established at Malkha Chowk by Police Station Nowhatta at about 5:30 pm on November 16. A man approaching from Tujgari Mohalla allegedly attempted to flee on spotting the police party while carrying a white bag. He was pursued and detained.

He identified himself as Hyder Javaid, son of Javaid Ahmad Wani, a resident of Kathidarwaza, Rainawari. The bag, police said, contained 3.40 kilograms of charas-like powder and 12 Tramadol injections. A case was registered and investigation began.

Acting on disclosures made by the accused, police arrested a second suspect on November 20. He was identified as Altaf Sheikh, son of Hameed Sheikh, of Sheikh Mohalla, Nowhatta. Police recovered 722 grams of charas powder from his possession.

The probe later led to the arrest of a third accused, Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh alias Shaka, son of Muhammad Sultan Sheikh, of Kathidarwaza, Rainawari, on November 26. Police said 1.400 kilograms of charas powder was seized from him.

Police added that further investigation is under way to identify others involved in the alleged network.
