Jubilance and festivity ruled the roast at the Nawai Subh in Srinagar on Sunday when new Provincial President, Nasir Aslam Wani was garlanded and was taken to his seat by the Working President National Conference and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
Slogans like ‘NC zindabad and PDP hi hi’ reverberated the atmosphere during the function organized by the National Conference to welcome Nasir.
Urging party workers to cooperate with new provincial president, Omar Abdullah said that the party should work for 2014 elections.
Considered a man Friday of his boss, Nasir converted to NC from Congress. He was Omar’s aide in his unsuccessful run for the 2002 polls.
Earlier this week in Jammu, Davender Singh Rana assumed charge as provincial president Jammu. “It was immaterial for party stalwarts to remain in the government or serve the parties,” Omar is quoted to have said on the occasion.
