Stating that ruling National Conference (NC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) always deceived people of Kashmir, Peoples Conference Chairman, Sajad Lone said the dynastic political parties only remember Kashmiris at the time of elections. He was addressing a gathering at Langate, Kupwara.
Addressing the gathering, Lone said, “At the time of elections both Abdullahs and Muftis claim that they will resolve Kashmir issue and seek votes on this. They have been claiming it for decades. But once in power they forget everything and remember only one thing to loot the public exchequer.”
“People of Kashmir have a right to ask them what they have done for them in the last six decades except deceiving them. This time leadership of both NC and PDP are blaming each other for the miseries of Kashmiris. The fact is that these two families have ruled for decades and they have to answer of the miseries of Kashmir. For the lust of power Abdullahs and Muftis have always compromised with the interests of Kashmiris,” he said.
Expressing surprise over the statements of NC and PDP that they will safeguard the interests of Kashmiris and won’t allow anybody to abrogate Article 370, the PC Chief asked, “I want to ask both these parties who are responsible for eroding the core content of Article 370. Let people check the history and see who is responsible for eroding Article 370. By shedding crocodile tears now, they can’t befool Kashmiris who have understood their deceit. Muftis and Abdullahs were always at the forefront of to compromise the interests of Kashmiris.”
He termed the statements of NC and PDP leadership on Article 370 as mere frustration. “Both these parties have realized that people of Kashmir will vote them out of power and now are playing a drama which won’t help them,” Lone said.
He said that PC is contesting the Assembly elections on its strengths. “History is witness that PC was formed to safeguard the interests of Kashmiris and the party always championed the cause of Kashmir. Right from its inception PC has always raised its voice in the interest of people of Kashmir. And any threats to Article 370 can only be countered by Peoples Conference. Coming elections will prove how people have faith in the party,” the PC Chief said.
He said that these days NC and PDP compete with each other in grabbing newspaper space and want to deceive people. “They are least bothered about the problems of common people as they have no program for their welfare and development,” he said.
Lone added PC has a comprehensive programme for welfare of people. “NC and PDP have no concept, no intention and no programme for the welfare of the people. There only aim is to loot and plunder the resources of the state,” he added.
