Srinagar: Senior Congress leader and former MP Tariq Hamid Karra on Friday made a passionate appeal to the people of Kashmir to unite and foil the machinations of RSS-BJP combine which has been given passage into the Valley by the PDP.

We have to stand and defeat anti-Muslim and anti-Article 370 forces collectively”, Karra said while addressing a joint election meeting of the National Conference- Congress supporters at Shivpora here this afternoon.

Karra said that Sangh Parivar has been conspiring for the past nearly seven decades to repeal Article 370 and dilute the state subject laws but the stiff resistance of the people has always made them lick the dust. “Now, they are day-dreaming to accomplish their nefarious agenda by aligning with the PDP”, he said and warned that the people will teach them such a lesson which posterity will remember all the times to come.

The former MP pledged to fight anti-Muslim campaign of the RSS and called upon people to meet this challenge collectively by maintaining time tested Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Unity.

He exhorted the people to come forward in a big way and vote for Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mr Ghulam Ahmed Mir, saying that support to the NC-Congress candidates will be defeat of anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim forces.

The election rally was also addressed by the Provincial President NC Nasir Aslam Wani, Provincial President Women Wing, Mrs Shameema Firdous MLA, District President Peer Afaq Ahmed besides Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir.

They recalled the atrocities committed upon the people of Kashmir and the Chenab Valley during 2016 summer and said more than 100 youth were killed and 16,000 injured across the Valley during few months. They referred to the blinding of several young people and blamed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for unleashing reign of terror upon innocents.

The NC leaders questioned the hollow claims of the PDP and asked as to what had happened to their commitments of repealing Armed Forces Special Powers Act, relief to flood sufferers besides jobs to unemployed educated youth. They said that after ruffling feathers with Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, the present rulers have been emboldened to subject the people of Kashmir to atrocities.
