Alleging both the coalition partners, National Conference (NC) and Congress playing ‘fixed match’, a large number of Panches and Sarpanches under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference, (AJKPC) held strong protest demonstration outside the Press Club Jammu on Monday against ‘delaying tactics’ of state government in implementing 73rd amendment of Indian Constitution in the state.

Rejecting the 2 months further extension given by Congress to National Conference for the implementation of 73rd amendment, the AJKPC leaders described it ‘a mere time killing exercise’ and a ‘fixed match’ between the two parties.

A Large number of Panchayat members belonging to all blocks and districts including Kashmir region gathered outside the Press Club Jammu and protested against the ‘failure’ of the Panchayati Raj in the state. Holding the state government directly responsible for the ‘failure’ of PRI’s in the state the AJKPC leaders warned both NC and Congress of dire consequences if they failed to implement the promises made to people of the state and 33,000 Panchayt members of the state .

While addressing the media persons, Shafiq Mir, Chairman All Jammu and Kashmir panchayat Conference said that when the assembly session is about to begin in 6 days there is no logic to give more time to the coalition partner for implementing the amendment in the Panchayati Raj act. Terming it a mere eye wash, Mir said, “in fact both the parties are playing a fixed match.”
