Accusing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of resorting to shameless doublespeak on brazen corruption and pathetic mis- governance of his regime, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday said the irony is that on one hand Omar Sahab curses the coalition for all the follies of his government while in the same breath swears by the coalition dharma.

“Chief Minister’s dichotomist stance on the coalition sounds like the proverbial hunting with the hound and running with the deer,” Mehbooba said while addressing a PDP workers convention here.

Mehbooba said having left the hapless people of the state in lurch, the functionaries of the present regime are busy amassing wealth with impunity and they continue to blame others for the injustices being committed on the public.
She said the people throughout the length and breadth of the state were suffering due to the wrong and corrupt policies of the present regime.

“There is complete lack of basic amenities like good roads, drinking water, power supply, proper healthcare facilities etc. Money from centrally sponsored schemes available for welfare of common masses is squandered away by either misusing it or returning it unspent. Thousands of cases of financial aid for old age, widows, handicapped are pending for the last 4 years with the social welfare department,” she said and added that people everywhere allege massive misuse of funds in MGNREGA.

Mehbooba said whatever government jobs are available the same are being distributed selectively. “Chief Minister seems to treat everything as his personal property. Therefore be it additional funds available with the government or direct recruitment in police, he uses it according to his whims and fancies, not adopting any principal or people’s right or their need,” she said and added that “NC has been the fountain head of corruption, right from land grabbing, bribery in jobs, promotions, transfers, allotting contracts, all these corrupt practices were started by them after they came back to power through 75 accord”.

Mehbooba said Tral was the worst sufferer of violence. “People of this area suffered heavy loss of life and property and also lagged hugely behind in development,” she said and thanked the people of Tral for their unflinching support to the party and assured them that Tral will be the focus of PDP’s developmental plan.

Mehbooba also urged the Tata Teleservices to review its decision of winding up operations from Jammu and Kashmir as it would not only leave hundreds jobless but would also hurt the state’s economic interests.

The meeting was also attended by senior leader and MLA Pulwama Mohammad Khalil Band, MLA Tral Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Showkat Gayoor, Raja Muzaffar, Dr Shanti and others.
