SRINAGAR: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Monday accused the National Conference-led government of avoiding issues concerning employees, workers and the youth instead of providing clear answers in the Assembly.
Speaking in the House, Sharma said the BJP had raised the concerns of NHM employees, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, GRS and technical staff, daily wagers and unemployed youth, particularly over employment, outsourcing, regularisation and their future prospects.
He said the concerns of these sections could not be ignored as thousands of families depend on such employment opportunities for their livelihoods.
Sharma also raised the issue of increased power tariffs, saying the rise in electricity costs was putting additional pressure on household budgets.
“When genuine public concerns are raised in the Assembly, it is the responsibility of the government to provide clear answers. The Opposition will continue to raise the voice of the people and seek accountability from the government,” he said.
The LoP said employees and workers from different sectors had repeatedly raised concerns over their service conditions and job security, while the youth were seeking meaningful employment opportunities. He urged the government to come up with a clear roadmap on these issues.
Sharma also raised the concerns of victims of cooperative bank-related cases, saying affected people were still awaiting relief and resolution of their grievances.
He said the BJP would continue to raise issues related to employment, livelihoods, rising costs, basic public services and opportunities for the youth in the Legislative Assembly.
“The BJP will not remain silent on issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir. As a responsible Opposition, we will continue to question the government, demand answers and ensure that the concerns of the people reach the floor of the House,” Sharma said.
He said the Opposition would continue to discharge its constitutional and democratic responsibilities by seeking accountability from the government on matters concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
