SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Additional General Secretary and Member of Parliament Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan on Thursday appealed to the Central Government to release incarcerated Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid on humanitarian grounds, citing the critical health condition of his father.

Ramzan said Engineer Rashid’s father is admitted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar and is undergoing treatment in critical condition, urging the Centre to act with urgency and compassion to allow Rashid to be with his ailing father.
Calling it a humanitarian issue, the National Conference leader said the presence of a son beside his father at such a critical juncture is a basic human necessity.
He said there are established precedents where detainees and undertrials have been granted interim bail or custody parole in exceptional family circumstances, including serious medical emergencies and family functions, and similar consideration should be extended in Rashid’s case.
Ramzan maintained that permitting the Baramulla MP’s temporary release would be in line with principles of justice, compassion and established legal practice.
He urged the Central Government to respond sensitively and facilitate Engineer Rashid’s release so he can remain by his father’s side during the medical emergency.
