In a communication dated May 2, 2026, Kichloo welcomed the operationalisation of the Vande Bharat Express, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.

He, however, emphasised the need for halts at Banihal and Anantnag, stating that both stations serve as key transit points in the Kashmir Valley. Banihal connects the Chenab Valley and adjoining areas, while Anantnag functions as a major railhead for South Kashmir, catering to commuters, students, tourists, and pilgrims.

Kichloo noted that the absence of stoppages at these stations limits accessibility and urged the Ministry of Railways to examine the demand on priority and take necessary steps to include Banihal and Anantnag as designated stops.

He expressed confidence that the request would receive due consideration from the authorities.

Last month, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the extended Srinagar–Jammu Tawi Vande Bharat Express from Jammu Tawi Railway Station, formally inaugurating direct high-speed rail connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar.
