NC-PDP Manifestos Encourage Militancy in Jammu and Kashmir: Ram Madhav

SRINAGAR: Senior BJP leader and the party’s former General Secretary, Ram Madhav, on Wednesday criticised the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), alleging that these parties are gaining the support of former militants in the ongoing campaign and that their manifestos advocate the “revival of terrorism.”

Addressing party workers at the residence of BJP candidate for the Lal Chowk Assembly seat, Er Aijaz Hussain, in Balhama, Srinagar, Madhav, said that during his stay in Srinagar, he observed that the NC and PDP are receiving support from former militants.

“It is now up to the people to decide whether they want to revive terrorism in J&K or continue with peace. If people want peace to continue, they must vote for the BJP. We will begin our winning streak from Lal Chowk, and the people must ensure the victory of Er Aijaz in the Lal Chowk seat,” he said.

When asked about the restoration of statehood, he said that the party’s primary focus is to form a government in JK. “For the first time in history, JK will have a BJP government. A new chapter will be added to the history of JK,” he said.

Madhav mentioned that the party is aiming to secure 45 seats—35 in Jammu and 10 in Kashmir. “We need the people’s support to secure at least 10 seats in Kashmir. This must happen to ensure that those who have ruined J&K for years are kept at bay,” he said.

Madhav also confirmed the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu on September 6-7, stating that after Shah’s visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders will also visit J&K for campaigning. “Shah will release the party manifesto in Jammu,” he said.

The BJP leader accompanied Er Aijaz in a rally from Balhama to Srinagar, where the latter will file his nomination papers for the Lal Chowk Assembly segment. Er Aijaz will face NC’s Ehsan Pardesi and Apni Party’s Ashraf Mir in the triangular contest. —(KNO)
