SRINAGAR

National Conference Provincial president for Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani Saturday said that the party will retain all the eight seats from Srinagar. He said that the party will go before people with its progress card and will persuade them to vote for their nominated candidates. “Why you think we will be not in a position to retain all the seats of Srinagar city. Let me clear it that Srinagar people will vote for us and we will retain all the seats,” Wani told CNS adding that National Conference always worked for the betterment of Srinagar people.

Nasir Aslam Wani appealed people not to be swayed away by false propaganda and said that in any way they will make inroads in Srinagar and will inflict a crushing defeat on their rivals.

Wani, however, said competition in the upcoming elections may be stiff owing to the fact that NC rivals are “doing their best to grab whatever they can from Srinagar, which is face of Kashmir.”

While responding to a query, National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani told CNS that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah opted for Beerwah Constituency because he thinks it’s backward and needs attention. “Omar Sahab has done a lot for Ganderbal. You will find all round development there. Now it is the time for Beerwah which is a backward area,” he said adding that Omar Abdullah fielded Ishfaq Jabbar from Ganderbal because he feels that youth should be given an opportunity to represent youth of Kashmir which accounts 75 percent of total population of the state.
