SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) leader Gurwinder Singh Oberoi has secured the third Rajya Sabha seat from Jammu and Kashmir, officials announced on Friday.
For the third notification, the NC had fielded party treasurer GS Oberoi, also known as Shammi Oberoi, and its young state spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar against BJP’s Sat Sharma.
The victory follows earlier wins by Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan and Sajad Kichloo, consolidating the NC’s strong showing in the Assembly.
Sources said that with Oberoi’s win, only one seat remains, expected to go to either BJP or NC. Counting for the final seat is underway.
