Former Speaker and National Conference MLA from Iddgah Srinagar Monday ran a mock Assembly inside the Legislative Assembly during the period when incumbent speaker Kavinder Gupta adjourned the house amid massive uproar over Kathua incident.

On the initiative of MLA Devsar Mohammad Amin Butt installed the chair and the mic in the middle of the well and requested Gul to sit on the speaker’s chair and run the Assembly and accused the government of running away from the debates.

Senior Congress MLA and former Minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori initiated the debate in parallel de-facto assembly and justified the demand of opposition parties demanding constitution of Judicial committee to probe into 2016 Kashmir uprising. He said that if government was right in claiming innocence, then the Mehbooba Mufti government should not shy away from judicial probe to fix the responsibility on guilty.

Congress MLA Usman Majeed, Vikar Rasool Wani and NC MLA Abdul Majeed Larmi and Devinder Rana also address the de-facto assembly and slammed the government from running away from debate. They also condemned the harassment of Gujjar community by government and growing influence of RSS, besides advised them to desist from such tactics which are only aimed at suppressing the poor people living in the forest. The mock Assembly ran for nearly 25 minutes before Gul called it a day.
