The Startup India initiative, launched on January 16, 2016, aims to build a robust ecosystem for startups by offering financial incentives, mentorship, and market access. To further boost the startup landscape, the government has partnered with venture debt firms such as Stride Ventures to provide easier access to funding. Additionally, schemes like the Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS), the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), and the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (CGSS) have been instrumental in enabling early-stage enterprises to scale their operations.

Jammu and Kashmir’s startup ecosystem is seeing significant traction across diverse sectors, including agriculture, handicrafts, tourism, and technology. The government has also been focusing on creating international market access through global partnerships, while initiatives like the Startup Mahakumbh and the Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) are fostering collaboration among entrepreneurs.

With 988 startups now recognised in Jammu and Kashmir, the region is witnessing steady progress in fostering innovation and economic growth. The government’s continued emphasis on providing financial and strategic support is expected to drive further development, offering new opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs in the Union Territory.
