SRINAGAR: The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal has risen to 1,344, with rescue teams continuing to recover bodies from affected areas, Nepal Police said on Saturday.

According to data released by Nepal Police, 843 bodies have been recovered, including 758 adults and 85 children. Authorities have also retrieved 501 amputated bodies from flood-hit areas.
The floods, triggered by an ice-rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26, devastated towns and villages across northern and central Nepal, causing widespread destruction.
Nepal Police said the number of people reported missing stood at 4,898 as joint rescue teams led by the Nepal Army continued search and rescue operations on the 11th day.
Authorities have so far managed 1,030 bodies through temporary underground burial, following prescribed procedures including DNA collection.
Rescue operations remain underway in the affected areas as teams continue searching for missing people and recovering bodies.
