Nepal Flash Flood Death Toll Rises to 1,410; Over 6,100 Remain Missing

   

SRINAGAR: The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal has risen to 1,410, while 6,145 people remain missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

Rescue, relief and recovery operations are continuing across the affected districts as authorities work to locate missing people and assist those displaced by the floods.

The disaster management authority said 13,756 people had been rescued so far as emergency operations continued in the affected areas.

Authorities have also collected 1,286 DNA samples to assist in identifying the deceased and tracing missing persons.

Meanwhile, 27 holding centres have been established to accommodate people displaced by the disaster.
