Rasheed in KulgamDespite strict police restrictions and arresting dozens of its prominent workers in Kulgam to prevent the district level protest march against coalition governments anti Kashmir policy, Awami Ittehad party led by its chief, Er Rasheed Thursday managed to lead the proposed march which was joined by a large gathering including people from various walks of life, a statement issued by the party here read.

The statement added that the heavy contingent of police deployed there used force to stop the march from proceeding and there was a scuffle between AIP supporters and police for a long while. However, it added, people reassembled and Er Rasheed addressed the gathering at main chowk Kulgam.

Speaking on the occasion Er Rasheed repeated that “sainik colonies, composite townships, Industrial Policy and various other anti Kashmir” moves will be resisted at all costs and nobody will be allowed to change the Muslim character of the state or erode its special status.

He said, “New Delhi is threatening Kashmiris on daily basis only because it has a very weak case to defend its relationship with J&K. Let people not give ear to rumours and behave like a nation and trust each other to fight the nefarious designs of Delhi.”

The independent legislator said that the response which people of Kulgam district have shown on today’s programme has forced PDP to use police and other security agencies to foil the march but the brave hearted people of Kulgam turned in thousands to resist the designs. “By using force to foil the march, coalition government has accepted its defeat and it is proven that PDP is working like extension wing of RSS.”

Er Rasheed warned army to change its colonial attitude at Ashmuji and Nehama camps and alleged that the camps have made life of inhabitants miserable by seizing their vehicles and identity cards often and have been keeping them in their camps for operational purposes.

Er Rasheed asked district administration to end the army rule in the area or be prepared to face the resistance over the issue.

Later Er Rasheed was arrested along with dozens of supporters and taken to police station Kulgam.
