Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accompanied by Choudhary, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works Department, Anil Kumar Singh and other officials, visited the complex near the Civil Secretariat and reviewed the progress of construction.

During the visit, Abdullah inspected the halls, rooms and other facilities and directed senior officials to ensure that the project was completed within the stipulated timeline, officials said.

Speaking to reporters, Choudhary said officials had indicated that construction work was expected to be completed by October 2027.

“If the Almighty wishes, the 2028 budget session will be held in this very hall, and the next budget will be presented here,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the new complex would offer improved facilities, including better seating arrangements for media personnel covering Assembly proceedings.

He said journalists often faced difficulties at the existing premises and that the new building would provide them with more comfortable working arrangements.

Choudhary urged people to wait until next year for the completion of the project.
