SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has revised the tax and cess rates on petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and natural gas.
The changes, outlined by the Finance Department, will come into effect from April 1, 2025.
According to a notification, the tax on motor spirit (petrol) will be 24 percent minus Rs 3.50 per litre, with an additional cess of Rs 2 per litre. Diesel oil will be taxed at 16 percent minus Rs 4.50 per litre, along with a cess of Rs 1 per litre.
The notification further reads that aviation turbine fuel (ATF) will be taxed at 5 percent, while natural gas will be subject to a 21 percent tax.
The order, issued under Sections 3 and 3A of the Jammu and Kashmir Motor Spirit and Diesel Oil (Taxation of Sales) Act Samvat 2005, supersedes all previous notifications on the subject. (KNO)
