SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, on Saturday visited Government Medical College and Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) to ensure smooth operation of the newly constructed 180-bedded additional building there.

The newly constructed building is set to address the growing healthcare needs of the community, with two vital departments, Ophthalmology and Radiation Oncology, now operational within its premises.

The expansion has augmented the total bed capacity of the hospital to 500, an achievement that is expected to alleviate patient load, reduce waiting times, and elevate the overall quality of patient care.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of this expansion, stating, “The new building is a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing accessible and high-quality healthcare to the people of Rajouri. The addition of specialised departments will enhance the capability of the hospital to address diverse medical needs effectively.”

Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Imran Rashid Kataria, and Medical Superintendent of Associated Hospital GMC Rajouri, Dr Mehmood Hussain Bajar; Dr Javed Ahmed; Dr Shazia Qayoom HOD Department Ophthalmology and Dr Abdul Hakeem HOD Department of Radiation Oncology/Radiotherapy were also present.
