Sources said that Tahir Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Akbar Dar, a resident of Dooru Sopore, was last seen at his home on Tuesday, and his whereabouts since then remain unknown.

It has been revealed that the missing SPO had been dealing with depression, which may have contributed to his disappearance. The officer, currently on leave, was previously stationed at Sopore police station.

A senior police official said that the officer’s wife reported his disappearance. The official emphasised that extensive efforts are underway to locate him as quickly as possible.

Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh has also addressed this issue. During his visit to the forward areas of Kupwara, DGP, acknowledged confirmed reports of the SPO, Tahir Ahmad Dar, being absent from duty. However, in similar cases, regular police officers have been known to absent themselves without timely notice.

Adding another layer of intrigue to the case, it has also been disclosed that the officer got married just four days before his disappearance. (KS)
