SRINAGAR: National Investigations Agency (NIA) carried out raids on the residence of separatist politicians and some businessmen. The raids which started early Saturday are in progress, reports said.

TV reports showing cops cordoning locations in Srinagar as NIA sleuths serraches these premesis are being aired since early morning. These are being linked to the investigations in the funding of unrest after NIA arrested Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karatay and Gazi Baba. These arrests took place after a Delhi based TV channel showcased a sting operation in which the three persons were admitting receiving money for destabilsing J&K.

Though the exact details are not known, reports suggest that apart from Khan’s house, raids are in progress at the residence of a businessman who played host to a PaK leader at the marriage of his siblings. Another person being raided is a player in handicrafts and hospitality.

There are reports that Nia raided eight hawala traders in Delhi but the as well. Two places in Sonepat have also been raided.

The NIA after the “sting operation” had initiated a preliminary enquiry which was upgraded to regular case later. It was only after that teh 10 teams swung into action and started raiding various places, mostly in Srinagar.
