National Investigation Agency (NIA) will record statement of Liaqat Ali’s spouse in Srinagar. The probe agency is looking into claims and counter-claims of the Delhi Police and their J&K counterparts over the arrest.

“The wife of Liaqat who were accompanying him on his travel back to Kashmir, is going to make her statement before the NIA team in Srinagar”, sources told KNS.

One of the senior police officer told KNS that the team has arrived in Srinagar and recorded the statements of some people here and Liaqat’s wife is going to make statement before team on Thursday in Srinagar.

Pertinently, the Delhi Police have been claiming that Liaquat, along with some other militants, hatched a conspiracy to carry out terror attacks in the national capital during Holi to avenge the hanging of Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru.

But the J&K police refuted these claims, saying Liaquat was a militant living in Pakistan Asminstered Kashmir for the last 15 years, he had surrendered as part of the State’s rehabilitation policy and was headed towards Kashmir.
