The National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) team which is on its second visit to valley Thursday questioned wives of alleged Hizb operative Liyaqat Ali Shah here today.

The team which arrived here Wednesday today questioned both the wives –  Amina Begum and Akhtar un Nisa after they were called to Srinagar from Kupwara.

While talking to KNS, Amina said that she repeated her earlier statement that she had given to the team during its first visit. “I told them that Liyaqat while in Pakistan used to talk to us on Phone and used to remain sick. He wanted to meet relatives as he missed them and also used to cry on phone”, she said.

She has told the team that she has personally submitted an application on behalf of his husband before the police authorities. “I told them that when rehabilitation scheme was launched I personally submitted a form at SP office Kupwara. Even before leaving from Pakistan my husband had informed us one month advance. Even police and other agencies also came to verify things about him and used to question us”.

“It is surprising that despite this why he was arrested. He even married another woman after asking us”, she said and added that the team had assured her of early release of Liyaqat. .
